Background Edit

Lieutenant Rembert is an original character from the Land of Stories series. He first appears in the Prologue of A Grimm Warning. He is part of the French Grande Armée. His superior commander is General Jaques du Marquis.

Appearance and Personality Edit

Rembert is not physically described in the books. He follows his orders dutifully, and is well-aware of his superior's ruthless methods (but only questions him once- when General Marquis orders him to kill the twins, objecting that they are only children.)[1]

He and Capitaine De Lange are the soldiers who kidnap the Brothers Grimm in 1811. Once through the portal, he joins General Marquis on his quest to Pinocchio Prison and the Snow Queen, and is part of the attack on the Charming Kingdom, in which a large part of the Grande Armée is defeated. He is promoted to the rank of Colonel when Capitaine De Lange and Colonel Baton are killed by Marquis.[2]

After most of the Grande Armée is defeated and General Marquis is dead, he has apparently made a deal with the Masked Man to lead an attack on the Fairy Palace as a distraction so the Masked Man can break into the Fairy godmother's chambers. It is not mentioned in A Grimm Warning what happens to him; it is only said that Skylene and Xanthous will handle it, and they do not seem very worried.[3]

He makes a re-appearance in Beyond the Kingdoms with the Masked Man, who instantly blames him for "leading them into a trap" in the Witches' Brew. The Masked Man escapes, leaving his army behind. Back on the ground, they are arrested and taken to Pinocchio Prison.[4] Later, the Masked Man returns with a new army of literary villains, and frees his former soldiers from prison again.[5]

Quotes Edit

"I believe we are in the company of more than just witches!"[6]
